The Cochrane Chaos won the AJFHL championship in a best-of-five series against the Sherwood Park Steele. The Chaos captured the title by defeating the Steele, 3 games to 1.
Cochrane Chaos has been with the AJFHL for seven years, and this past weekend they proved too much to handle in the 3rd and 4th games of the championship. This is also the first championship in eleven years that a southern division team has won the AJFHL title.
The team and coaches demonstrated why they deserve to be crowned the league champions while decisively beating the Sherwood Park Steele. The return of Kelly Stanford added an extra offensive boost for the Chaos and helped pave the way for the final two victories. The Chaos jumped out early in both games and continued scoring throughout the match. The Chaos defence was solid and kept Sherwood Park from forming any continued offensive attacks.
Both teams played incredibly hard until the end and should be proud of their efforts throughout the series.
The Cochrane Chaos are also deemed the provincial champions and awarded provincial gold medals. The Sherwood Park Steele took home the silver medals!
Congratulations to both the AJFHL teams on all their accomplishments!
